Hi, It’s Randy.
Let’s Build a better cottonwood Heights.
My VISION FOR COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS
-
Our city should be walkable and bikeable, with measures taken to ensure pedestrian safety. As your City Councilmember, I will preserve open spaces while ensuring responsible growth and common sense zoning.
-
Cottonwood Heights needs attainable housing for renters in the area looking to purchase a home in the future. As your City Councilmember, I will work to balance new development with preserving neighborhood charm.
-
We must evaluate city revenue, tax leakage, and property taxes in an effort to generate additional funds through code & law enforcement. I am against the city selling property it owns and will develop at the City Center and other sites. Doing so may provide a short term gain, but we lose long-term revenue potential and the future value of one of our city’s most important assets. This property should remain under city ownership so it can serve the public, and generate ongoing income. Selling it off would be like selling the goose that lays the golden eggs, and our community deserves better.
About ME
Born in Salt Lake City and raised in West Valley, I have called the Holladay and Cottonwood Heights area home for the past eight years, with the last four years spent in Cottonwood Heights—two of them in my current district. I share my home with my partner of seven years and our dog, Roman, who I often walk along the Big Cottonwood Trail.
I attended Utah State University and Salt Lake Community College, and I am completing my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at the University of Utah this fall. Professionally, I work as a Realtor and Bakery Manager at a local high-end supermarket, and I have spent much of my career advocating for individuals with disabilities. My experience includes serving as Director of Operations for a local restaurant group, Director of Residential Services for individuals with disabilities, and co-founding Entourage, a social group for people with disabilities and mental health challenges. I have also volunteered with local nonprofits and the food bank, keeping service at the heart of what I do.
My core values are transparency, community first, fiscal responsibility, collaboration, equity and inclusion for all, and ensuring a high quality of life for residents. I am passionate about the outdoors, supporting smart infrastructure investments, encouraging thoughtful development of our Town Center, and creating programs that help renters become homeowners in our community.
I chose to run because I believe residents deserve a choice and a voice in shaping our city’s future. I am committed to listening and building connections within the community—living by my favorite quote: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Theodore Roosevelt
